10 Camera Accessories Every Photographer Should Have

Camera Accessories

Photography is a fun hobby, but do you know what makes it more interesting? It is having the most important accessories. Whether you are just getting started or you are a professional, there are some camera accessories you will need for your everyday photography.

You don't need to buy the most expensive camera in the world; you just need the right accessories and know how to make use of them. The truth is that even the most expensive DSLR camera will still need some external accessories to work perfectly. So when you are saving money for a new camera, don't forget to save up for accessories too.

In this article, you will learn of some important camera accessories I have personally used in my photography work. These accessories are highly recommended and you will need them if you want to take your photography to the next level.

Alright, let's get started. Below are important camera accessories you need to have as a photographer:

1. Camera Bag

How else will you manage to carry your camera bag around if you don't have a standard quality camera bag? Purchasing a camera bag is no-brainer; you need it just like you need a pant-pocket for your smartphones. Invest in a compact, light-weight, and roomy camera bag. This will make it easier for you to carry your camera with you wherever you are going.

No matter the size of your camera, you must see a camera bag that will fit it. Please do note that some high-end cameras come with a bag, but in some cases, you will still need to buy a separate camera bag.

2. Tripod

Tripod is one item you should never forget if you want to go far with your photography. You need it to make your camera stable and achieve sharp images. Fortunately, tripods aren't that expensive. You can get a quality one from Amazon or buy a second-hand from a professional photographer.

3. UV and Polarizer Filters

With UV filters, you can protect your camera lens from things such as grime, dust, and scratches. This will help you make your photographs sharp. Additionally, you also need polarizer filter to reduce reflections and enhance colors and contrast. You don't have to worry about the price of these two; you can get them below $50 from a reputable brand.

4. Spare Memory Card

The last thing you want is having your memory card get filled up or become faulty when you are in the field. Moreover, most memory cards have tendency to become corrupt when you need them the most. To save yourself from frustration, always have extra memory card in your camera bag.

5. Spare Battery

This does not require long explanation. It is a common sense that you always have spare battery with you. When you are shooting in the cold weather, it is easy to deplete your battery, having a well-charged spare battery will save you from such situation.

6. Flash

Not so many people love using the flash that comes with the camera. You will see the difference when you invest in an external flash. A quality external flash will make your photograph looks like a flash wasn't use and it will give it a real natural look. A quality external flash I will recommend for this purpose is Canon Speedlite 430EX iL. You can as well search for other types of external flash; however, ensure you read reviews before making your purchase.

7. Remote Shutter Release

Not so many people think they need a remote shutter release until they start getting blurry images. Remote shutter control or cable enables you to take a shot without touching your camera shutter button. The aim of this is that you will add extra stability to your camera and avoid ruining your shot with a camera shake.

8. Lens Cleaning Kit

One of the reasons why your images are blurry is because your camera lens is dusty. It is easy for dust and other impurities to accumulate on your lens when you are working. With a proper camera lens, you will be able to wipe away dust, fingerprints and other debris that accumulated on your lens while you are out in the field. Fortunately, you can buy lens cleaning kit for less than $30.

9. Camera Rain Cover

This is a must-have camera accessory for landscape photographers, you don't think you need it until you are in a middle of long exposures and rain start pouring down. If you have an expensive DSLR camera, this rain cover will help you keep it protected from the rain.

10. Camera Manual

Who knows what type of problem you will run into with your camera. It never hurts anyone to have your camera manual around with you when you are in the field especially if you are using high-end DSLR cameras. There may be some few things that will confuse you and your camera manual will help you clear them up. Always have them around; you will never guess when they will come in handy.
